Inspired by our good buddy, Craig B., these extra bar-b-quey burgers have been a summer favorite for years!
He smothers them in bbq and seals in the sauce with a slice of cheese. Melty, saucy goodness!
Happy Grillin’!!
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef (we went with 88% lean this time)
- 2 cups of your favorite bbq sauce. We are lucky enough to have friends that make Sticky Paw, the very best sauce around. 🙂
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- sea salt
- fresh ground black pepper
Suggested Side: homemade baked beans
Directions:
- Preheat grill on high heat. Form patties evenly, about 1/2″ thick each.
- Turn heat to med and place patties on the grill.
- Season each burger with salt and pepper and place a heaping T bbq sauce on top of each patty. Let cook with lid closed for about 4-5 minutes.
- Flip burgers and add another heaping T sauce on top followed by the cheese. The cheese will seal in the sauce as it cooks. Cook burgers for another 3 minutes or until cooked to your preferred wellness. We like ours medium, with bright pink inside. (yes, the sauce will drip onto the grill and get a little messy as well as smoky. But it’s worth it!) 🙂
- About 1 minute before burgers are done, toast buns very lightly on top shelf of grill.
- Serve burgers on top of buns and with some homemade baked beans and your favorite beer!
Enjoy!!
