Red, White and Boozy Cocktail

June 11, 2015 by eghassett

Tomorrow night is the second Women’s World Cup game for Team USA!!  They won their first game against Australia and I can’t wait to cheer them on again tomorrow as they face Sweden at 6pm MST.  Soccer is a passion of mine and I LOVE watching all the world cup games, cheering loudly, decked out in red, white and blue and drinking festive, delicious Red, White and Boozy Cocktails!

Red, White and Boozy Cocktails

Red, White and Boozy Cocktails

These fun, patriotic drinks are made with three different rums and are perfect for celebrating Team USA!  I’ll be making a non-alcoholic batch for the kids.  If you’re hosting a party, keep these in the freezer till kickoff.  USA, USA!!!

Red, White and Boozy Cocktail

Ingredients:
Makes 1 cocktail

  • 1 oz dark rum
  • 1 oz white rum
  • 1 oz Malibu Coconut Rum
  • 7 oz Simply Limeade (my favorite…no corn syrup!)
  • 5 fresh or frozen strawberries (if using frozen, you won’t need extra ice)
  • 1/8 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen mixed berries (I used frozen blackberries and blueberries)
  • 1/4 cup Talenti Caribbean Coconut Gelato
  • 2 cups ice

Directions:

  • For the red layer, add strawberries, 1/8 cup blueberries, dark rum, 4 oz. Simply Limeade and 1 cup of ice into a blender.  Blend until well combined.  Should be smooth and thick.  Add more ice if needed.  Pour into the bottom of a 12 oz glass (or fill 1/3 of your favorite glass) and place in the freezer while making the white layer.
  • For the white layer, add white rum, 3 oz Simply Limeade, coconut gelato and 1 cup of ice.  Blend until smooth and thick.  Add more ice if needed.  Spoon about half of white mixture on top of red layer and return to freezer.  (Spooning the mixture instead of pouring it helps keep the layers separate.)
  • For blue layer, add 1/2 cup mixed berries and coconut rum with the remainder of the white mixture in blender.  Add more ice and blend until smooth.  If using frozen berries, no extra ice should be needed.  Spoon on top of white layer in glass.
  • Garnish with a patriotic straw. 🙂

Cheer loudly for Team USA!!!!
