Red, White and Blue French Toast
Ingredients:
Serves 6 (approximately 16 slices)
- 8 eggs
- 3/4 cup milk (I use 2%)
- 1 t. cinnamon
- 1/2 t. nutmeg
- 2 t. vanilla
- 16 pieces of sliced white bread (I like Izzio Artisan Sourdough)
- 1 pint blueberries
- 1 pint rasberries
- powdered sugar for sprinkling
- pure maple syrup
- 1 t. unsalted butter and more for serving, if desired
Directions:
- In a 8 x 8 casserole whisk together the eggs.
- Add in milk, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Whisk until combined.
- Heat a large griddle over med. heat. Add butter and spread evenly with a spatula.
- One at a time, place bread into egg mixture, turning to coat. Place on hot, buttered griddle and cook for about 2 min. per side or until golden brown.
- Serve topped with berries and a light sprinkling of powdered sugar and a light drizzle of pure maple syrup.
