This dinner made for a very happy husband! He always orders Ahi tuna when we’re out at a nice restaurant.
I’m proud to say that I am slowly growing a taste for it as well. And I loved this fresh, healthy dinner!
It’s amazing that such an elegant dinner was so fast and easy. I modified this delicious recipe from myrecipes.com

Serves 6
2 teaspoons sesame seeds, toasted
2 teaspoons wasabi powder (dried Japanese horseradish)
2 teaspoons black pepper **
1 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 teaspoon sea salt **
3 Ahi or Yellowfin tuna steaks (about 3/4 or 1 inch thick)
1 tablespoon wasabi powder
1 tablespoon water
1/2 cup sour cream **
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 T canola oil (for oiling the grill or broil pan)
2 tablespoons sliced green onions **
Directions:
- Toast the sesame seeds by placing in a single layer in a non-stick skillet over med. heat. (no oil necessary, the seeds
will release their own oils.) Cook for 3-5 min., giving the pan an occasional shake to turn the seeds over. Watch closely so as not to burn. They are done when light brown in color and fragrant.
- Combine first 5 ingredients; rub over tuna. Cover and chill 30 minutes.
- Combine 1 T wasabi and water. Let stand 5 minutes. Stir in sour cream, lemon juice, and soy sauce.
- Pour oil on a paper towel and rub onto broil pan or grill rack. This will keep tuna from sticking. Set oven rack to the middle and turn oven to Broil (high) or prepare grill to high heat. (I used a cooling rack, set inside a foil-lined cookie sheet.)
- Grill 5 minutes on each side or until desired degree of done-ness.
Serve with wasabi cream; sprinkle with green onions.
Serve with rice or a salad. Enjoy!!
